Meriden Connecticut is a bustling city situated in Middlesex county Connecticut. In my trailblazing journey to identify beautiful trails and to capture beautiful views of Connecticut , I happened upon two notable parks that I would like to share my experience with you. Hubbard Park and Giuffrida Park are parks you must visit as you discover all that Connecticut has to offer.
Hubbard Park
Known for its recreational spaces and numerous hiking trails, notably linked to the infamous Metacomet Trail; Hubbard Park is one of the larger parks in Meriden. The park also showcases dramatic mountainous views of Meriden Connecticut via Castle Craig.
The park has many picturesque views of Meriden and many areas to privately picnic on a cliff.
If you are looking for a place to have a romantic picnic with picturesque views of Meriden. Hubbard park is a great state park for this. On a Sunday afternoon, I ventured up to Castle Craig. There were so many areas that you could privately have a date or a wonderful family outing. It felt like an oasis of sorts, where I had the opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life while using my comfort blanket to cuddle up next to bae.
The park features many amenities such as a public outdoor pool, spacious playscape, BBQ grounds, and an array of trails ranging from moderate to quite challenging paths. When entering the park, you can hike up the many trails that will lead you to Castle Craig or drive up a beautifully winding road with views similar to that you would typically find in a movie.
This park features everything you need to have a wonderful romantic outing or perfect family day. Enjoy the park and don’t forget to be mindful of the trash we leave behind.
Giuffrida Park
pronounced g ee f r EE d uh
Giuffrida park has peaceful views of the fresh water reservoir via the wetlands, it offers plush grassy areas to sit and picnic while you take in views of the towering mountains and gurgling streams nearby. The park has a total of 7 trails varying in difficulty from moderate to expert hiking experience required and is roughly 24.8 miles of awesome hiking. The trails are clearly marked with blue white black red or yellow markings and are extremely easy to follow.
The white trail was super challenging as it had mountainous terrain, for this trail one would definitely need hiking boots and some experience as the trail at times can be extremely steep and rocky.
The park also has a free book exchange structure situated at the entrance of the park with some great reads for every age group and picturesque views of Chauncey Peak, the dam, and Lamentation Mountain. I recommend bringing one of your favorite books to share and take in the gentle breeze as you read the afternoon away.
The views are breathtaking, this park is great for an evening stroll or a full day out with family and friends. Always remember to leave only footprints and take only memories.
